Headteachers Update 16th September 2022

Our KS1 & KS2 pupils experienced how we pay our respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during our PSHCE Assembly on Monday.  Pupils watched Her Majesty and Paddington bear from the Jubilee celebrations and the school shared a minute of reflection. For our more formal learners, they have talked about change in our world and incorporated British Values into their provision across the week.

Please see attached online a short social story called ‘School is closed to say goodbye to the Queen.’

Our first Parent’s Community Hub is taking place on 27th September, this is an informal coffee club for parents to meet one another and have time to chat with our Wellbeing Team. I will always pop into these sessions to hear hot topics, support the partnerships across the City of York and bordering areas. I am looking forward to hearing about the positive impact from the summer holiday events.

If you would like to attend the Sensory Processing parents workshop, please call the main office on 01904 806655 to book a place. We will run this workshop throughout the academic year. The aim of the session is to support your knowledge and understanding of what sensory processing is and how to support children who require strategies to help keep them happy and well-regulated.
This week in our celebration assembly, we celebrated the golden moments of the year so far…each class contributed by sharing their wow moments, the photographs evidenced the high levels of engagement, positive relationships between staff and pupils and the developing friendships that will blossom across the term. Just a reminder about our swap shop. If you have any spare uniform you’d like to donate or are in need of additional uniform (not that you know how messy learning experiences can be at HMO) please get in touch with Caroline from our Web Team, c.anderson@ebor.academy.

Our old minibus has finally moved from our main entrance, please can parents who are ‘meeting and greeting’ staff on a morning and evening please gather to the side of the school entrance, where the bus would usually be parked. We have ordered signage to identify this space as ‘HMO Parents Meet & Greet Zone’.
