Headteacher Update 9th May 2025
Dear Parents and Carers, I hope you all enjoyed the May bank holiday weekend. We’ve had another lovely week at school. The children have been working extremely hard and continue to impress us with their lovely manners and kindness. I was especially pleased to hear about the fantastic performance of our Year 1 and 2 children at the football festival yesterday! They demonstrated incredible teamwork, enthusiasm, and skill on the pitch. A big well done to all the children who participated and to the staff who supported them. A quick request regarding school absences: if your child is unable to attend school for any reason, please ensure that you contact the school office directly by telephone 01904 806655 or email admin.hmp@ebor.academy. ClassDojo is not the appropriate channel for reporting absences as these messages may not be picked up immediately by the teachers. Prompt communication with the office ensures that we can accurately record attendance and follow up on any concerns efficiently. As we move into the summer term, please can we remind you about the importance of ensuring your child wears suitable footwear for school. Our school uniform policy remains in place, and for safety reasons, certain types of footwear, such as Crocs or open-toed sandals, are not appropriate for school activities, especially during break times and PE lessons. Please ensure your child wears footwear that offers adequate support and protection. For parents considering ear piercing for their children, we kindly suggest that if you choose to go ahead, doing so during the first week of the summer holidays offers a practical advantage. This timing allows for the full six-week healing period to pass before the start of the new term.By the time PE lessons resume, children will likely be able to remove their earrings without any discomfort or risk of infection, ensuring they can fully participate in all physical activities from the outset. Finally, we would like to extend our very best wishes to our Year 6 pupils as they prepare to take their SATs tests next week. They have worked incredibly hard throughout the year, and we are immensely proud of them. We know they will approach these tests with resilience and give it their all. We are keeping them in our thoughts and sending them lots of positive energy. Wishing you a lovely, sunny weekend. Best wishes
