Headteachers Update 3rd December 2021

Advent in school is a very special time and I hope everyone enjoys our planned festivities. This week, thanks must go to Ian Wilson from HMO for expertly positioning our huge Christmas trees and making every branch twinkle with wonder and excitement! Staff and children are looking forward to welcoming families into school to join our celebrations this year. Please remember to bring your face-mask and take a lateral flow test before you come into school, so we can all stay safe and enjoy Christmas this year.

Our fun started for Key Stage 2 children this week with a pantomime all about ‘Professor Lightbulb and a series of Chimps’. 400 children from a number of Ebor schools visited Hob Moor to watch Professor Steve Peters, a number of Chimp Management mentors and medical students from Sheffield University perform an informative production with the aim to help our children to understand their emotions, thinking and behaviour. I’m sure it will be talked about at home and will encourage us all to reflect on our behaviour and help us develop healthy habits for life. On Wednesday evening a lot of staff also attended an evening session entitled ‘Understanding the neuroscience of building         resilience in young children’, which certainly gave us lots to think about. It was a really memorable few days and such a privilege to meet such an inspiring team!
