Headteachers Update 28th May 2021

Happy half term to all our families, staff and community!

The summer term is travelling very quickly! We are working extremely hard behind the scenes to support our Y6 leavers, prepare our new starters and develop class groups for September. Andy Kemp, Applefields Transition Lead visited today to get to know the children further and listen to staff’s knowledge of your child. We are finalising our plans for visiting Applefields as well as sharing TAs from Applefields to see the provision in practice and more importantly—come to HMO and have fun with the children!

On behalf of the pupils, staff, Governors and Ebor Multi Academy Trust  I would like to say a big thank you to Adam Booker, Headteacher of Applefields for the work and time he has given to Hob Moor Oaks during my first year as Head, supporting Sarah during my maternity leave and as I returned part time in January. Adam has shared his experience and knowledge of the special school sector and we are grateful of his support and wisdom! The SEND partnership between Hob Moor Oaks and Applefields will continue but will be more focused on teaching & learning, transition and SEND networks. I am returning to full time after the holidays!

Thank you to the Understanding the World curriculum team for their wonderful Explorers Day! The children loved using their map skills to travel around school learning about different explorers! Thank you for your creativity and ensuring our pupils have a broad and balanced curriculum!
