Headteacher Update 12th April 2024

Dear Families

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the acting Headteacher of Hob Moor Primary whilst Mr Jolly recovers from his  unexpected surgery. I feel extremely privileged to work at this great school and it has been delightful to meet all the children and hear about their Easter holidays. I am a parent of two young girls and as a parent my goal has always been to ensure my children are happy in life and achieve their potential. This is the philosophy I bring to my role as Headteacher. My aim is to ensure all children who attend Hob Moor are happy and provided with all the necessary opportunities to be the best they can be both socially and academically. I will be on the playground most mornings, so please come up and introduce yourself. Equally, please feel free to share your thoughts and feelings about the school with me and the things you feel we need to improve. I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming weeks.

This week at school, the children are working really hard and responding extremely well to the new behaviour initiatives. Children are so excited when they receive a golden ticket and they are aiming high to try and achieve a ‘WOW’ postcard home.

Please remember Parents Evenings will be taking place on 17th April for Key Stage 1 & EYFS, and 16th April for Key Stage 2. This is a great opportunity for you to talk to your child’s teacher about their learning and wellbeing. We will also be holding an ‘Open Doors’ event on Tuesday 23rd April at 2:45pm. This is a chance to look around the classroom, share time with your child looking in their books and at other pieces of work, and celebrate their many achievements.

We firmly believe in ‘every child matters and everyday counts’. We know there are days when children may not want to come to school especially if they feel tired or under the weather. But we are here to help encourage them with our exciting attendance rewards! Next week in school we will be introducing our new attendance initiative, The GOLDEN DISCO! This is for all children who attend school for 95% & over from Monday 15th April until Friday 24th May. More details to follow.

We do understand that some children face great barriers which affects their attendance, such as those with long term medical needs or special educational needs and disabilities. We know that by working together in partnership we can help raise your child’s attendance. We believe in a ‘support first’ approach.

We know “From the first day to the last, the small moments in a school day make a real difference to your child.

If you do need help with your child’s attendance please request a meeting with Miss Brady or myself.

Have a lovely weekend
